Memorial Day – Reflections – Starting in 1865 when the Civil War ended, people began remembering their fallen in solemnity, with pride and remorse. Over time our national holiday has morphed into a relaxed day of picnics and shopping, and it is the first official day of Summer in Boston. We offer reflections on this important day, a poem and a guest reflection.

Zach Cohen, Executive Director since 2007, will be returning to school this summer and reflects on changes in the organization under his leadership. Don’t forget our fundraiser,” he says, “Urban Safari & BBQ Bash on June 22, 2011.”
The Greater Boston House Concerts held their first concert featuring violinist Shaw Pong Liu, very well received. The Visiting Nurses’ Association is celebrating its125th anniversary with a traveling exhibit and a reception at the Grove Hall Branch library.
